Bedtime Conversations

Here’s how a conversation went between Gage and I tonight:

Gage: “Mom, you’re being so mean to me right now. Why are you so irritated?”

Me: “Gage, I’m exhausted, my back hurts, and it’s past your bedtime. I just need you both to be in bed.”

Gage: “Why do you have to talk to me in such a stern voice? Gosh, Mom!”

Me: “Maybe one day you’ll have a kid just like yourself and then you’ll understand. Some days are just hard, Gage.”

There will be much more to come in this little piece of the blogosphere. Hopefully tomorrow. But, as of now, I will just say that today was particularly hard because my son decided to climb up a tree to hunt down a possibly rabid bat. And, he succeeded. We will be taking him to get the beginning of a series of shots tomorrow. Yep, life with Gage is NEVER boring!

Stay tuned for the full story. Pictures included.

This is so funny that you are writing about this, because as I sit here typing, Tiffany has won yet another battle of falling asleep on the couch. It is a nightly occurence of me losing my patience with her and yelling. I hate that, and I know if my throat feels scratchy, then I must have raised my voice too much. It is hard because Dave is gone for 6 weeks, so I feel guilty that her life is turned upside down. She used to be such a good sleeper, and now EVERY night I dread her bedtime! Hang in there!!!

Hey, Shaun! It’s great to hear from you! It’s not easy being in charge of putting your child to bed by yourself every night for 6 weeks. Wow. I’m feeling your pain! I find that bedtime, especially when Gage was Tiffany’s age is the time I MOST lose my patience. By the end of the day, I’m just ready to check out and take my Mom hat off for the night. Like that’s even possible!

Look at the postives Lyra. He suceeded! What a little adventurer you have. Not only will you have a son who’s successful in whatever he sets his mind to, you’ll also have a great story for the grandkids one day!

Lyra,

Honestly, this is the first time I have ever heard of a kid catching a bat. It is really an accomplishemnt. He is quite a go getter…hope he is okay though..with the shots and all.
Look, it is a good story to tell his first date.
Girl…take off the mommie hat and slip into some spandex pants..and just RELAX!
